Red Kidney Bean Usual (Curry)

Ingredients & Materials:
2 cups Red Kidney Beans
2 Tbsp. ghee
2-3 cups water
½ teaspoon turmeric
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
½ teaspoon Coriander seeds
½ tbsp. Ginger Garlic Paste
Salt to taste
1 large pan
1 lid to cover
1 ladle

Cooking Method: Prep Time: 10 minutes Cooking time: 30 minutes
- Soak Red Kidney beans overnight in water. Rinse and pressure cook for 2 whistles or Use canned low sodium Red kidney beans, rinse before use .
- Next put the pan on the stove, keep the heat on medium. Add Ghee **Tip: You can substitute ghee with Oil of your choice !
- Next add Cumin seeds, coriander seeds, Turmeric and Ginger Garlic Paste.
- Make sure the spices don’t burn. Reduce the heat to low if needed.
- Next add Red Kidney Beans and mix well.
- Add 2 cups water and let it come to a boil. Cover the pan with the lid, reduce the heat to low. Watch for the water content. After cooking on low for 15 mins, open the lid and gently stir.
- Check if Red Kidney Bean are cooked well, if not add 1 cup water, cover and cook until Red Kidney Beans cook completely.
- Add Salt to taste.
- Serve hot yummy Red Kidney Bean Usal with steamed rice, khichari or rotis.
